MELONYA JOHNSON EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
I will never forget the day, during an undergrad lecture, I sat daydreaming, gazing out the window, my meandering mind asked, "What do you want to do with your psychology degree after graduation?" Immediately I thought, "Either work as an organizational psychologist or work to reform the prison system." Little did I know that in some ways, both dreams would come true. Work is a prison for many, and I aim to change that...
My sole mission is to improve employee work-life experience by helping managers, leaders, and organizations create workspaces where people can be their best selves regardless of their title i.e. self-actualization. We get one life, so it needs to be the best experience.
Respect is like air, once it is gone...that's all you can think about. A lack of respect is what kills relationships. As your partner, I will lead with respect. Also know, my approach is direct. I am not afraid to ask the tough questions. I am willing to wait in the uncomfortable silence while you formulate the answers. I'm your change agent. Get ready to work.
"I am your Sherpa. Keep your eyes on my back and your feet. Don't look over the edge...don't look to the left...there's some scary stuff to the left."- Melonya Johnson. Change is scary but in order to be great you actually have to change the systems, behaviors, policies, and communications that prevent you from being a "best places to work" company. Many companies want change without actually changing. I liken it to wanting to lose weight without changing your diet and exercise regime. Change only happens when you actually change. If you want change for the better, be prepared to move through uncharted territory, and don't expect it to be comfortable.
I'm not the one for you if you aren't for creating real change. I operate with integrity and courage. I come in the spirt of respect...note, I'm also unabashedly direct so don't expect me to sugarcoat things. I speak the truth. I know it's the truth because I spend countless hours in study for your benefit.
I present the business case- Each. And. Every. Time!
No Room for the Status Quo- I challenge the status quo. I have no patience for slow change or arrogance. I am a proponent of servant leadership. That is what employees are clamoring for...they want leaders that are there to serve them, so they can serve the mission.
